Established on the 11th February 2008, this website and forum has grown into a great community for model horse lovers across the globe: members stretch from America, across Europe, and to Australia! Model Horse Love came about to create a place where people could continue to talk to one another and share what they did within the hobby. Since, it has become a place that is well known and talked about everywhere. Clare originally founded the forum with the help of two people, Rachel and Georgie, who are also horse enthusiasts. Not long after, Rachel was made a moderator alongside Christine, and Clare being the administrator.
There is always something to do or talk about on MHL, there are many boards for the different type of model horses, plenty of sticky threads with hints, scale comparisons etc. and it is a place for both hobby newbies and veterans. There are also helpful pages to help hobbiests with tips and tricks of the trade. It continues to grow and it is a brilliant place to be a part of.
Becoming a member will unlock more categories on the forum, as the forum is not available for guests to view - if you become a member, you will be able to see all the fun! For example, the general model chat boards will open up, but the sales area (along with the area of general discussion) do neet a minimum post requirement of 50 posts. Recently the competitions board has also had a minimum post requirement of 20 put on it. This is again to respect member's privacy. Join and chat with the others!
MHL is great for those who are starting out in the hobby, or who want to brush up on their knowledge about model and real horses. There are many informative articles within the forum, such as colour and breed information, showing information and tips, model horse abbreviations and loads more. Hobbiests who have also been in the hobby for a while will most probably also learn something brand new too with regards to the information. Members can also feel free to post 'articles' that are of use to others, as well as their own tutorials, hints and tips.
There is also a games section with threads where members have a bit more fun. members can create their own threads here, as well as RP ones in the RP section, moderated mainly by EG. MHL has other forum extras too, to make the time spent on there more exciting and beneficial to the members, for example awards are handed out to those who post a lot, have so much karma, or if they are an extra helpful member.
Model Horse Love holds exclusive competitions for the forum members which are very enjoyable to participate in, as well as they are free. These include Model Of The Month which is run by the MOTM Co-ordinator Becky, where every month there is a certain theme and members post on the thread created a photo of their horse to do with that theme. A poll is then put up on the forum and the winner gets displayed! There is a competition every month for this.
Model Horse Love is also runs a special Show Series shows including the final qualifying show, and there are even prizes!
